According to Cape Coast Tailors Association and Central Region Tailors Association, all the uniforms of SHS students in the region are being sewed in Accra.
It seems in Ghana, everything is all about Accra. We can’t even sow our own unforms for our schools in our region too? Should this also be done in Accra? We have Cape Coast Technical University, Cape Coast Technical Institute, Biriwa Vocational Technical Institute, Asuansi Technical Institute who are all offering Fashion Design and Tailoring courses to their students. In addition, we have top fashion designers like Sharp look designs, Sab fashion etc in Cape Coast and all over the Region. Won’t this create job and reduce the burden of always going to Accra to get employed?
All the money collected from our tourists sites in the region are sent to Accra. Now, we can’t get the opportunity to sow the uniforms of our own schools too? Everything in Cape Coast/Central Region goes to Accra but nothing from Accra comes to Cape Coast/Central Region. Should we always depend on Accra for the betterment of our dear city and Region?
We plead with our respected Central Region House of Chiefs, the Chief of Cape Coast Osabarima Kwesi Atta, Central Regional Minister, all the MMDCE’S and all the Mp’s in the region to make sure our tailors and fashion designers get the opportunity to sow the uniforms of our own schools.
