Five (5) reasons why Ashanti’s are the richest people in Ghana.

THE COLOR IS YELLOW, BLACK AND GREEN.

This research was done by non Asantes and Jumia Travel henceforth, I did not temper the story or the history whatever you want to call it.
I’ve seen and read these stories from different sources but I decided to put this one on the platform so that you might not think that, the search was done by Asantes No.

Sika or ^Jw3t33’’ are very popular terms used to caption money or riches in many Ashanti or Akan parts of Ghana. A rich person, known as ‘’sikanyin’’ in Twi represents someone who has amassed so much wealth that he/she stands out in the community or the society. Some have even reached national and international status.

One overwhelming fact about these individuals is the fact that a greater chunk of them are Akans, more specifically Ashanti’s. Then this question pops up. Why are the Ashanti’s the richest group of Ghanaians? Jumia Travel, Africa’s leading online travel agency attempts to examine possible reasons for this popular assumption(why the Ashantis are the richest people in Ghana).

LAND OF GOLD

Historically, we can confidently say the Ashanti’s are by far the richest sect of Ghanaians by birth. Born into riches, they are destined for wealth by inheritance. Many Ashanti’s acquire their starting capital from their fathers and forefathers. They have something to build on from the start. The Ashanti Kingdom is also popular called ‘’the land of gold’’ because it houses the biggest mines in the country. The Obuasi gold mine has for many decades been a hub for Ghana’s gold mining activities elevating the country to a very good standing as one of Africa’s leading gold producing countries. Have you ever watched an Ashanti ceremony? The full regalia worn by the chiefs and kinsmen will dazzle you. Expensive Kente with very beautiful gold ornaments clearly depicts how rich these group of people are. Other rich minerals are also mined here. A look at the top richest men in Ghana clearly shows us also that most of the rich folk are Ashanti’s.

HARD WORK ~~~~~~~~~

Another reason that may be attributed to Ashanti’s being the richest Ghanaians is hard work. Indisputably, the Ashanti’s who are spread all over the country are much more involved in businesses and work extremely hard for their money. You will hardly find an Ashanti without a job. Either self-employed or working with a firm. Many of them also learn a trade. No wonder the biggest open market in Ghana can be found there. They are naturally born traders and are very good at what they do. Give an Ashanti anything and expect them to sell it at a very good price. They don’t relent until the work is done and they have their monies worth for the product or service rendered. They work very hard and hence it comes as no surprise that most of them are successful and rich.

RISK TAKERS ~~~~~~~~~

Fearless, aggressive, and smart are some words that can be used to describe the Ashanti’s way of doing business. However, the most appropriate thing to say may be that they are risk takers. They dive in when they see a business opportunity. This may occasionally be detrimental and they may be on the losing end but trust them to come out on tops on most occasions. Most successful businessmen and women are the ones who take risks and venture into the unknown, work hard and make a way even when the path to success looks gloomy. If there are any group of people in Ghana who will readily explore an opportunity, then it’s the Ashanti’s.

SUPPORT FOR EACH OTHER

~~~~~
Nana Kofi goes to the USA to work. After 10 years he makes it and settles down. Then he comes back home to take Afia Kobi who is his niece along with him. She too works hard and after a while comes back to Ghana to take her nephew Kwabena Yeboah out of Ghana to work and make some money.
The cycle continues till every member of the family is in a comfortable position. This trait is very common with the Ashanti’s who are always there to support and enrich each other. Due to this special and generous attitude, we find many more rich people being Ashanti’s than any other tribe in Ghana.
Another thing that makes more of them rich is the level of generosity. An Ashanti man can give out his asset or business to his family member or kinsman to manage and make more money whiles he concentrates on other businesses with the assurance that the business still goes on and they both benefit. They hardly let each other down. This is why they keep getting rich.
BIG SPENDERS
~~
To catch a whale, you need to throw in a herring or smaller fish. This is a strategy that hardly fails and the Ashanti’s are by far the biggest users of this phenomenon. They spend big, invest big and almost always reap bountifully. The trick here is, the money hardly gets out of their own circles.
During a festival, a group of rich Ashanti friends will go back home, book a hotel owned by an Ashanti, eat from a restaurant or ‘’chop bar’’ managed by an Ashanti and even drink at a bar owned by their kinsmen. At all these places, they spend heavily and patronise from their own people hence the money stays in their own circle.
The above-mentioned points are not to say that other tribes in Ghana are not rich or do not practice any of these things. However, the group that stands out as those who do it more and better are the Ashanti’s. Maybe, in some time to come, this will change but until then, the children of Gold lead the way.
Akufo-Addo to be first person in Ghana to receive COVID-19 vaccine
Government is introducing digital applications and call centers for pre-booking of Covid vaccination.
Presidential advisor on health, Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare who made this known says the move will help with monitoring and also encourage more Ghanaians to avail themselves for the vaccination, which comes at no cost.
He told TV3’s Grace Hammoah Asare in an exclusive interview , that, President Akuffo Addo will be the first Ghanaian to receive the vaccine
Ghana is expecting its first consignment of the AstraZeneca and sputnik Covid vaccines by the close of this week.
Even before its arrival, Ghanaians have expressed mixed reactions on their willingness or otherwise on taking the jab.
For some, the side effects are their concern.
But the Presidential advisor on health, Dr. Nsiah Asare says such reactions are normal.
“President Akufo-Addo will be the first to be vaccinated. This is to assure Ghanaians that the vaccine re safe and any other reactions like headache, dizziness, or pains are all usual with every vaccination”, he assured.
He noted that government is introducing applications and call centers for booking and monitoring of the exercise
“We are even thinking of introducing apps, so that people can book for the vaccinations. We will also set up call centers and send SMS to people on the dates and times of their vaccination”
According to him, it is in the interest of the country, for people to avail themselves to vaccinate.
“We encourage everyone to avail themselves for the vaccine. It is safe and we want other Ghanaian abroad to also put out their videos to encourage others in Ghana”.
Some 20 million Ghanaians are expected to be vaccinated in the exercise which begins in March.
Press statement requesting government to declare Australian high commissioner & Danish Ambassador persona non Grata- Journalist against LGBTO+GHANA
We wish to request government to declare two diplomats as persona non grata as a result of their involvement in funding the community space of the Lesbians, Gays, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) group.
The two diplomats, the Australian High Commissioner, His Excellency, Andrew Barnes and the Danish Ambassador, His Excellency, Tom Norring have been accused for funding the community space as a result of the LGBTQ group hosting them as fundraisers on January 31, 2021.
As a result of their actions, we (Journalists’ Against the LGBTQ group + Ghana) is drawing the attention of government to declare that the presence of the diplomats in the country was unfit and therefore their actions did not consider the highly kept morals and preserved culture and traditions of our dear country.
We also want to clear the air that a story circulating that President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has directed the closure of the LGBTQ office is totally false and mere charade.
Our checks with the security agencies reveal that they do not know the location of the LGBTQ office but we know the office is located within the precincts of the Australian Ambassador’s official residence.
We are calling on all Ghanaians to join us demonstrate to government how livid we are seeing the group go about their duties in the country.
We will start the demonstration at Obra Spot, Kwame Nkrumah Circle Interchange on Wednesday,24th February, 2021 from 6am to 12noon marching through various places in the national capital until we get to the seat of government, Jubilee House to present our petition.
Hon. Ntim Fordjour calls for immediate closure of LGBTQI resource centre in Ghana
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin South, Hon.Rev. John Ntim Fordjour has called on the National Security to immediately close down the recently opened LGBTQI resource centre in Ghana.
Mr. Fordjour said Ghana views lesbianism, homosexuality, bestiality and other related practices of LGBTQI  as an “abomination and utterly abhorred” hence must not be encouraged in the country.
According to him, Ghana has “since pre-colonial era had always upheld a culture of morality and decency and within our cultural and traditional contexts.”
“I strongly urge the national security apparatus to take urgent steps to CLOSE DOWN the LGBTQI resource center in Ghana with immediate effect and prosecute the perpetrators accordingly.”
The Assin South legislator added he believes that activities of LGBTQIs in Ghana are due to pressures from the western world and that must be resisted as long as they continue.
“The influence of the west on our society relating to LGBTQI infiltrations remain an age-old pressure, which must be resisted as long as the pressure shows no indication of abating.”
The opening of the LGBTQI center in an unknown location in Ghana has recently generated public conversations with some calling on the government to close it down, claiming that it will serve interests that are abhorrent to culture and values of the country while others have insisted that the rights of LGBTQIs must be protected and as anyone else.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference has also called on president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo to close down the facility
The Conference insisted that though the church respects the human rights of homosexuals, it frowns upon acts of homosexuality.
“We also call on the Government of Ghana to close down the LGBTQI office space that was recently opened in Accra,” it said in a statement.
Below is the full statement
Close down LGBTQI resource Centre with immediate effect – Rev Ntim Fordjour Urges National Security
Our Ghanaian society, since pre-colonial era had always upheld a culture of morality and decency and within our cultural and traditional contexts, the practices of Lesbianism, Homosexuality, Bestiality and Transgender and other related practices of LGBTQI had long held as abomination and utterly abhorred. The concept of family for us as Ghanaians has always been and will always be initiated by marriage between a man and woman. The fundamental principle of Biblical marriage is construed as one between man and woman as it was in the beginning instituted by God between Adam and Eve.
The influence of the west on our society relating to LGBTQI infiltrations remain an age old pressure, which must be resisted as long as the pressure shows no indication of abating.
Section 104 of Ghana’s Criminal Code proscribes LGBTQI with the specific provision of ‘unnatural carnal knowledge’. While some activists have contended that the provision of ‘unnatural carnal knowledge’ is anachronistic and no longer sufficient to adequately address the emerging trends of LGBTQI matters in the country, and so therefore further strengthening of the law is required to position our laws more robust, encompassing and stringent in dealing with the abominable practices of LGBTQI, I have remained an ardent advocate for the enforcement of existing laws and fully inclined towards further legislation to adequately deal with these matters in consistency with the Constitution of Ghana and in line with our broad religious and cultural orientation, with particular regard for morality.
Contrary to the notion that persons practicing LGBTQI in Ghana are discriminated against, I strongly hold the view that persons practicing LGBTQI are rather unfortunately pampered and treated with kids gloves in Ghana. This position of mine, among other references, is premised on the seeming public ‘glorifying’ on media of acts which are serious contravention of our law. The impunity of open and public advocacy and practice LGBTQI is on the rise largely because perpetrators have not been prosecuted.
The recent opening of LGBTQI resource center in Accra is the height of it. Is the National Security apparatus telling us that they have no information on the location of this so called LGBTQI resource center that has been opened for weeks now? Are they telling us they have no intelligence on the people and groups behind this abominable act? Why are they quite? If ‘Armed Robbers Association’ or ‘Drug Traffickers Association’ were to publicly open an office in any obscure corner of Ghana, wouldn’t the security agencies conduct a rapid raid by now with alacrity?
It is appalling and most hypocritical that a state that abhors LGBTQI practices on religious and cultural orientation as well as criminalizes same practices per our Criminal Code would sit unconcerned for such impunity to be perpetrated. Some of us, regardless the ramifications, cannot shut up! I’ll keep up the advocacy for further strengthening of our laws to completely and assertively deal with the complexities of LGBTQI matters and will continue to explore my legislative options under the private members bill until such a time when existing laws will be confidently enforced with additional laws proscribing the advocacy for LGBTQI practices in Ghana.
Until then, I strongly urge the national security apparatus to take urgent steps to CLOSE DOWN the LGBTQI resource center in Ghana with immediate effect and prosecute the perpetrators accordingly.
My fervent appeal to our eminent Clergy, Muslim Clerics, and venerable Traditional leaders, respectfully, is that, if these LGBTQI practices and advocacies are truly deemed affront to the values and orientation of what we unanimously believe in as a nation-state, then this is the time to rise up and make our voices and strong position heard and entrenched more uncompromisingly than ever before.
On diplomatic front, I urge all state and non state actors and external diplomatic entities to respect the sovereign orientation and decision of Ghana in such matters and withhold their undue interference under the guise of human rights.
Journalist against LGBTI🏳️‍🌈 Ghana🇬🇭 to Demonstrate against the presence of Lesbian,Gay,Bisexual Transgender and Queer intersex(LGBTI) in Ghana
We write to register our intense displeasure and disgust against the presence of the LGBTGI rights group and the brazen support of the European Union (EU) in opening the new community space of the group in the country.
It is such a disrespect to our preserved and much revered morals and religious beliefs which hugely frowns on same sex relations and I therefore, call for a demonstration to express my displeasure and petition the President to close the LGBTI office in Ghana and declare the LGBTI “illegal and immoral”.
We also want to add our voices to the high-profile and well-meaning Ghanaians who have stood against such a group in the country and consequently call for a comprehensive legislation by Parliament to deal with the presence of such groups.
We therefore, use this missive to call on all Ghanaians to join us in the demonstration on Wednesday, 24th February, 2021 from 6am to 12 noon from the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, Circle Obra Spot through to the seat of Government at Jubilee House.
Thank you.
COVID-19: Ban all social gatherings now – OccupyGhana to gov’t
Pressure group OccupyGhana has called on the government to immediately ban all social gatherings in the country due to the increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases.
According to the group, the ban is important to slow the spread of covid-19 across the country.
“The factor(s) driving these unfortunate changes are not letting up, and unless something drastic is done, the situation will get worse. These factors leading to the uptrend are visible to most Ghanaians.
“After almost a year of dealing with this disease, we have all learned the role social gatherings play in spreading. We therefore ask the government to immediately ban all social gatherings till a marked drop in new cases is seen.”
Ghana has now recorded over 3500 active cases with the death toll currently at 361. The country is currently recording almost 600 cases on a daily basis.
Find below the full statement
25th JANUARY 2021
OCCUPYGHANA® PRESS STATEMENT
UPTICK IN NEW COVID-19 CASES AND DEATH – GHANA NEEDS TO ACT AND ACT FAST
The Medical Team of OccupyGhana® has been studying graphs plotting new cases of COVID-19 against time, and sees a relative period of quiescence from late August through much of October 2020.
In the first week of November, though, there was a noticeable spike in new cases that let up about two weeks later. A similar phenomenon was evident as we entered December. Though new cases were more than what was seen in September and October, the growth rate stayed stable.
However, January 2021 has seen a significant uptick in new cases and death. These changes are not letting up three weeks into the month. The uptrends in new cases and deaths are noticeable and more significant this time than back in November and December 2020.
OccupyGhana® therefore states as follows:
1. The factor(s) driving these unfortunate changes are not letting up, and unless something drastic is done, the situation will get worse. These factors leading to the uptrend are visible to most Ghanaians. After almost a year of dealing with this disease, we have all learned the role social gatherings play in spreading. We therefore ask the government to immediately ban all social gatherings till a marked drop in new cases is seen. This will include funerals, parties, church services, night clubs etc. In short, any gathering of more than ten people should be banned again.
2. Unfortunately, a ban might affect the recent and pending re-opening of schools. It will therefore be imperative to explore expanding online classes, whether class sizes of those who cannot take online classes could be reduced to a maximum of ten, and shift systems introduced. For parents who must go to work, it is time for employers to begin conversations on ‘flexitime,’ which breaks the day into three 8-hour cycles where parents could stay at home to supervise online classes and then report to work later in the day. We must do whatever it takes to rein in this trend of infections, and it requires us to be creative in how we think and how we do things.
3. It is our view that the experience from last year showed that a general lockdown is not sustainable. A better alternative, we think, would be to identify and target the hotspots and at-risk groups and explore ways to modify their behaviour. It is unfortunately evident that the social behaviour of those in the middle class is driving this new uptick in cases and deaths. All efforts should be made to influence this behaviour and reverse this trend.
4. Enforcing the mask mandate is also very important. Masks have been shown to break the spread. We must enforce the terms of the Imposition of Restrictions Act, 2020 (Act 1012). However, we think that the punishments in the Act have hardly been applied. This is because although the prescribed fine of between GHS12,000 and GHS60,000 and/or imprisonment between 4 and 10 years might have been well-intentioned to be draconian and convey the seriousness of the situation, they have proven to be unrealistic. Parliament has to consider an amendment of the Act in this light, to aid its enforcement and to provide for realistic fines and other deterrents such as community service for those who breach the law.
5. In the general public, there are still many misconceptions about the disease. Re-educating the public about the disease, the myriad ways it can present and its short and long-term effects should be an exercise our media houses can help with. We are inviting electronic media houses to commit to air approved educational advertisements on the pandemic for a minimum cumulative period of one hour in every 24-hour cycle, over the next month. Print media houses may also commit to print one full-page advert three times a week.
6. Another factor leading to the uptrend is the new variants of SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19. Consideration should be given to reducing travel to and from countries where these variants are dominant.
7. We also ask the government to make more hospital beds available as all indications point to a dire need for beds for the ever-increasing number of new cases that need in-patient care.
8. Ultimately, the best way out of the chokehold of this pandemic is a vaccine. Therefore, we implore the government to spare no effort in getting doses of a COVID-19 vaccine for the country.
9. To all Ghanaians, even if you are one of those who will only get a mild case of COVID-19, the toll those who suffer the severe version exact on the health facilities ultimately lead to a situation where help for non-COVID conditions become very difficult or even impossible to obtain. The indirect effects of the disease and a rampant spread are many. Therefore, it behoves us all to work to stop the uptrend in cases.
In conclusion, it is essential for all to recognise the direness of the situation and act accordingly.
Baby who was stolen by Nurse at birth found in India
A lady who only identified herself as Adoley has narrated how her child was stolen from her at birth and trafficked to India.
Speaking on Angel FM’s Anopa Bofo, Adoley said she gave birth to a baby boy when she was in secondary school form 4.
“My child was shown to me but I was later informed that he is dead,” she narrated.
According to Adoley, she added that just after the baby was shown to her, she was given an injection that put her to sleep and so she could not realise anything that happened afterwards.
All of these happenings notwithstanding, a Man of God told her that she will find something precious which she has misplaced.
Three days later, someone called her from New Delhi in India, obtaining her contact from a nurse, and informed her that the said nurse said, it was her baby that was given to her.
She then inquired from the guardian who at this time was seventy eight years about the whereabouts of her child, to which the woman said the boy is at the university. She later had conversations with her boy and also got his child’s pictures which were sent to her by her child’s guardian mother.
Adoley is still in touch with her child who now lives in the United States of America with her Auntie because her boy’s guardian mother has passed on.
Adoley’s phoned in to narrate her story following reports that the Economic and Organised Crimes Office (EOCO) had led an operation to rescue a baby who was nearly trafficked by a doctor, nurses and some social welfare workers.
Below are some of the narrations from other callers:
One of the women, who only identified herself as Mabel, recounted her ordeal she went through when she gave birth at the Mamprobi polyclinic some 22 years ago.
“My son will be 22 years should he be alive today”, she said, and added that after her delivery, she was waiting for her child to be brought in the nurses but that never happened.
While she waited for the nurses to dress the child and return the child, a nurse informed her mother that the child was born deformed and that if the child is given to her, she would incur so much cost but to no avail. So, they will inject the baby to kill the child so that she the woman will pay for her burial.
According to her, she wanted to see her child but she was prevented by the nurses. They explained to her that if she cast her eyes on her child, his deformity will cause her to be barren and she will cry all the time, and that was the end of it. She paid for the burial of her child and that was the last time she saw her boy child.
MAVIS
Mavis gave birth in March 1999 at the Komfo Anokye Hospital ward A5. She was later informed that the baby is weak and was transferred to ward A1.
She proceeded to A1 to have a look at the child and left. Upon her return, she was informed that her baby is dead. “That cannot be”, she said.
She went close to the lined up baby’s cot and saw her child but she was told that is not true. She remained vigilant and glanced through the cots and realised that her name is in one of the cots with the cot sheet. She then insisted that her baby is alive and not dead.
The nurses orchestrated the plot to offer the baby to a certain woman who keeps having still birth. Had she been negligent a bit, she would have lost her baby.
The interesting and ironic thing about this particular story is that the said baby who was nearly given to another woman is now a grown woman and also a nurse at the same health facility that attempted to rob her of her biological mother.
AN ELDER OF A CHURCH
An Elder of Church of Pentecost whose wife gave birth to a baby boy at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital some 6 years ago lost his child when he was told few
His wife went through operation to deliver the baby but the child was a preterm baby and thus, was contained in an incubator.
He said, while the baby was in the incubator, he went home but when he returned to the hospital he was told that his child is dead. He followed up with the case but a certain small fridge was opened to him to show him the lifeless body of a child purported to be his dead child.
He added that his boy would have been 6 years should he be alive.
Ghana army not providing cover for illegal miners anywhere
A news report circulating via certain media houses, since Tuesday, 19th January, 2021, that soldiers of the Ghana Army, have been providing security services for a Chinese Mining firm, in the Amansie South District of the Ashanti Region, have been rebuffed by the Army as misrepresentation of facts.
Providing the historical facts and the present state, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Central Command (C/COMD) – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Joseph Aduko Aphour, under whose command falls the Area of Responsibility (AOR) of the Amansie District, which unfortunately, has seen ravaging mining activities.
It may be recalled that that part of the country has witnessed a gun-wielding militia group, who have terrorized citizens and others, whom they considered as opponents to their nefarious mining activities.
The GOC stating the facts, said that in June 2019, the Amansie District Assembly, requested for the deployment of a joint military/Police force, to check the activities of a militia group, which was said to comprise of some locals, Burkinabes, Guineans and Nigeriens, resulting in high number of crime incidences.
As a result of the request, C/COMD had been tasked by High Command, to jointly conduct OPERATION CALM LIFE with the Civil Police, thus, this assignment has been ongoing at places such as Tontokrom, Apapam, Odahu and their environs, since June 2019.
C/COMD received information that some persons in military uniforms, were going about extorting monies from mining companies, after which the Command was directed to effect the arrest of the said soldiers, should they appear in the Command’s AOR.
On Saturday, 16th January, 2021, further information received indicated that the purported soldiers, had moved to Odahu, a village located in Apapam Forest Reserve, hence the OP CALM LIFE Detachment at Tontokrom, was tasked to arrest the group.
As part of the strategy to arrest the perpetrators, a three-man under-cover patrol team was therefore dispatched to track the said syndicate, to aid in their arrest and on the afore-mentioned date, the under-cover team sighted ten (10) men dressed in Ghana Army uniforms, others in various desert camouflage uniforms, five other men in civil clothes, in a section of the forest reserve.
The under-cover team then alerted the OP CALM LIFE Detachment at Tontokrom, who moved in swiftly with a military/police detachment to effect the group’s arrest, however, the soldiers bolted upon seeing the dust trails of the approaching vehicles of the Detachment, who were with the Military Police (MP).
General Aphour therefore stated that the soldiers who were spotted in the video news doing the rounds, were rather on authorized duty to effect the arrest of the rogue soldiers, and were not the offending ones.
New variant of COVID-19 recorded in Ghana – Nana Addo reveals
Ghana has recorded the new strain of the Coronavirus, the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has revealed.
The variant was recorded among passengers who tested positive after arriving at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) recently.
While delivering his 22nd update on enhanced response measures taken by his government to battle the pandemic, Nana Akufo-Addo disclosed that “recent genomic sequencing undertaken by our scientists have established that some arriving passengers tested positive for [the] new variants of COVID-19.”
These affected passengers have all been isolated.
“Furthermore, work is ongoing to determine the presence and extent of spread of the new variants in the general population,” the President added.
As a means of managing the situation, the government is intensifying its strategy of enhanced tracing, testing and treating, to allow identify infected persons for isolation and treatment.
Some contact tracers are also being mobilized to follow up on contacts of all who test positive.
Both public and private laboratories are to supply, in real-time, data on all persons tested on the common platform established by the Ghana Health Service.
There will be sanctions against laboratories that fail to comply.
Reactivation of treatment, isolation facilities
Detailed investigations of the cases indicate that, apart from arriving passengers at our airport who tested positive, infected persons have recent histories of attending parties, weddings, end of year office programmes, family get-togethers, and funerals.
Nana Addo said additional logistics, including vehicles to the Ghana Health Service, have been provided for the supervision and monitoring of asymptomatic cases being managed from home.
“Government is reactivating available treatment and isolation facilities across the country in anticipation of any further increase in infections. The provision of adequate medicines, equipment, and personal protective equipment to enable health workers to attend to home-based patients is being effected”, Nana Addo said.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Health Service is recording an average of  200 new cases of COVID-19 infections daily with the number of patients requiring hospitalization and intensive care is rising.
13 out of the 16 regions have recorded active cases with a nationwide case count pegged at 1,924 currently.
The number of confirmed deaths has increased, 338 persons to 352
