Three students infected with COVID-19 since school re-opening

Three students in senior high schools in Upper West and Western regions respectively, have contracted Coronavirus disease since schools re-opened a week ago.

Dr Patrick Kumah-Aboagye, the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, announced this in Accra on Monday, during COVID-19 media briefing.

He said the affected students were being managed in their respective schools.

He said before schools were opened on January 15, this year, the GHS made arrangements for schools to be mapped to health facilities near them.

That, he said, was intended to ensure quick response to COVID-19 infections or outbreaks in any school.

Meanwhile, more than 32 persons have died from COVID-19 related diseases between January 1 and 24, this year.

The GHS Boss said the third phase of COVID-19 surge in the country was very severe and deadly than the surges in July and September last year.

Currently, he said, 372 persons have succumbed to the infectious disease since the nation recorded its first case in March 2020.

He said the active cases had increased from 800 to 3,613 as of January 22, 2021, with 62,135 cumulative cases, noting that the middle and upper classes of the population were most affected.

Dr Kumah-Aboagye said due to the severity of the new wave of infections, the GHS will soon begin Antigen testing in suspected outbreaks in schools and workplaces.

Additionally, Antigen test would be used in hospitals when health workers there had been exposed to the virus, and also use it in selected health facilities.

At the moment, Antigen Test is used at the country’s airport and produce Covid-19 test results within 30 minutes.

Dr Kumah-Aboagye said public health facilities would now offer 24-hour service and intensify Contact Tracing using public transport system like Bolt.

He advised the management of companies and organizations in the country to decongest staff at their workplaces and use virtual services instead.

Dr Kumah-Aboagye urged the public to comply with the preventive and safety protocols as well as the wearing of nose masks.

Why government is yet to impose another COVID-19 lockdown

The Information Minister designate, Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has explained that government’s decision to impose another COVID-19 lockdown will not be based solely on the increasing number of cases.

Responding to questions at a press briefing on government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Ghana on Monday [January 25, 2021], Mr Oppong Nkrumah said although there have been calls for another lockdown as was done in 2020, the decision taken at the time was a “precautionary one” that gave government the opportunity to study the dynamics of the Coronavirus and plan on how to respond to it.

According to him, “it had nothing to do with the number of cases at the time.”

“Because if it was about the number of cases then of course there will be a strong argument to make that when the cases go up then we have to lock down some more.

Rawlings’ speech while on trial after his failed coup on 15th May, 1979

“Now you listen to me well and good because I am not here to make a speech and I am not here to waste my time talking. First and foremost, let me inform you that I am not here to impose myself on 10 million citizens of this country. But I am telling you that, I am here today in the history of this country to address myself to military senior officers, all those politicians, all those businessmen and foreign criminals who have used our blood, sweat and tears- the tools of our labouring- to enrich themselves, to drown in wine and women, while you and I, while the majority of us, are daily struggling for survival, yes!

I know what it feels like going to bed with a headache for want of food in the stomach. I am not an expert in Economics and I am not an expert in Law but I am an expert in working on an empty stomach while wondering when and where the nest meal will come from.

Let me tell you, the struggling and suffering masses, just one little warning. Should anyone or group of you dare collaborate or help exploiting pigs to run away, this country will once more bleed than we anticipated.

I am going to prove to you today that it is no longer a question of the military against the civilians, it is no longer a question of the Akan against the Ewe, the Ga against the Northerner. But a question of those who have against those who have not, a question of a vast majority of hungry people against a very tiny minority of greedy, inhumane, selfish senior officers, politicians, businessmen and their bank managers and a bunch of cowardly Lebanese who will not stay in their country to fight for a cause. But who is a fool? You and I.

You and I are the bigger fool for allowing such a blatant abuse of human dignity for so long. 22 years after independence, you and I are still hitting our heads on the ground and leaving it all to God to save us one day. Where on this earth had God come to the salvation of a people without the suffering, starving, hungry people taking the law into their own hands!

America has seen her brand of revolution, France has seen her brand of revolution, Britain has seen her brand of revolution , Russia, China, Iran, all of them. Only the black man in the black African continent goes on leading his fellow black men like a herd of cattle while suppressing them like slaves. Let me tell you today that God will not help you, and the big men will not help you because his stomach is full, his children’s stomachs are full and there is enough for them to go and come as they like. Only you can help yourself.”

Boost Your Immune System Against The COVID-19

Incorporating certain foods into our diet regularly and a little bit of insight about the immune system together with good practices shall position us in a well prepared state to enable us win the battle of ‘Survival Of The Fittest’ in the wake of the COVID-19 challenges. Clouded with such reasons, CHERISghana dim it dutiful to come up with this write up

The immune system is a complex network of cells and proteins charged with the responsibility of defending the body against infection. Be reminded that abnormalities of the immune system can lead to allergic diseases, immunodeficiencies and autoimmune disorders. These abnormalities could be triggered by any of the following

1. By inheritance

2. Going through medication.

3. Food we consume.

4. Stings from Insects.

5. HIV/AIDS and certain types of Cancer.

6. Where the immune system mounts a response against normal components of the body

THE MAIN COMPONENTS OF THE IMMUNE SYSTEM.

1. White Blood Cells

2. Antibodies

3. Lymphatic system.

4. Spleen

5. Bone marrow

6. Thymus

7. Complement system

WHITE BLOOD CELLS : are main workers of our Immune system, they are produced mainly in the bone marrow and form part of the lymphatic system too. White blood cells comb through the blood and tissues in the body to look for foreign Invaders or microbes such as bacteria, VIRUSES, parasites and fungal in order to launch an Immune attack to render them ineffective

ANTIBODIES : help the body to combat toxins ( poisons ) the body produces. They carry out this by identifying substance called Antigens on the surface of the microbes or in the chemicals they produce which then identify the toxins as as antigen for destruction.

LYMPHATIC SYSTEM : consists of network of delicate tubes found throughout the body , it has lymph nodes which traps microbes, lymph vessel – The tubes which carry lymph i.e the colourless fluid that bathes the body’s tissues and contains infection-fighting white blood cells . The lymphatic system comes with the following responsibilities

I, Controlling the fluid levels in the body.

II, React or respond to bacteria.

III, Combat cancer cells.

IV, Deal with cells product that otherwise would result in diseases or disorders.

V, Absorb some of the fats in our diet from the intestine.

SPLEEN is the blood-filtering organ that removes microbes destroys old or damaged red blood cells. In addition it makes disease-fighting components of the Immune system such as antibodies and lymphocytes BONE MARROW : are spongy tissues located inside the bones which ensure the production of Red blood cells which the body needs to Carry oxygen, White blood cells the body needs to battle infection and platelets the body needs to help blood clot.

THYMUS : filters and monitors the content of blood. It produces the white blood cells called T- Lymphocytes

COMPLEMENT SYSTEM : is made up of proteins whose actions support or complement the work of the antibodies.

OTHER WAYS THE BODY ADOPTS TO FIGHT INFECTION

1. The skin acts as water proof barrier in this regard to secrete oil with bacterial killing effects or properties.

2. The lungs have mucous (Phlegm) to trap foreign particles whilst the cillia or small hair waves the mucous upwards to enable us to cough it out of the body

3. The digestive tract is also filled with mucous lining which contains antibodies whilst the stomach has acid to help kill most of the microbes.

4. The skin oil , saliva, and tears are abound with antibacteria enzymes that help to reduce the risk of infection.

5. The regular flushing of the urinary tract and the bowel also helps to combat infection.

FOODS AND HERBS NEEDED TO BOOST THE IMMUNE SYSTEM.

1. GARLIC : Has high antiviral and antibacterial effects. It better when chewed in a raw form

2. GREEN TEA : Contains catechins that has the ability to inhibit viral infection by blocking the enzymes that allow it to replicate.

3. LIQUORICE: Contains glycrrhizin that has the ability to reduce the replication of viruses and halt the ability of the virus to penetrate and replicate inside a healthy cell. Liquorice is noted for treatment of viral illment such as HIV strains and viral hepatitis

4. OLIVE LEAVES : Contain elenoic acid and calcium elonate which are powerful inhibitors noted for blocking the production of enzymes that allow viruses to replicate.

5. COLLOIDAL SILVER: Has the ability to interfere with the enzymes that allow a virus to utilize oxygen, thus it triggers suffocation so that the virus cannot do damage in the body.

6. ELDERBERRY. : Has the ability to render virus ineffective by binding to the tiny spikes on the virus protein that are used to Pierce and invade a healthy cell

7. POMEGRANATE : The extract from it has high antiviral potency to combat the activities of viruses.

8. ECHINACEA : Had direct antiviral action against colds and viral bronchitis.

9. Intake of lots of warm water or liquids from the following enables the body to be hydrated in order to thin mucous secretion and flush out viruses from the body

I Chicken pepper soup

II. Ginger Tea

III. Warm water with lemon

Aside the above category of foods or herbs that are abound with antiviral effect , consumption of foods that are packed with antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and the rest also support the functionality of the immune system.

1. Acai Berry.

2. Oyster.

3. Water melon.

4. Sweet potato.

5. Broccoli.

6. Dark chocolate.

7. Turmeric.

8. Cloves.

9. Oats.

10. Oregano.

Solution to tooth Pain

Tooth ache is a pain or inflammation in or around the tooth, often caused by tooth decay or infection.

Toothache has been one of life’s worst nightmares.

Throughout history, man has been searching for solution that will help with healing and to reduce swelling and pain.

Local plants were recognized for their medicinal properties but efficacy does not last as the pain resurfaces after a while.

If you eventually go to hospital to seek for solution to your tooth ache, they will remove the affected tooth and after a while, the infection will be transferred to another tooth, if you go back they will happily remove that one and so on, for me there is no solution there because they keep removing your teeth and making money without solution, until they empty your mouth.

There is a simple remedy that solve the problem of toothache permanently and without much cost, this remedy has been tested as trusted by thousands of people who previously had tooth challenges.

This remedy is ALUM

Alum , is a transparent ice/salt like substance that is used in filtration of pond water, as well as for medicinal purposes.

There are various types of Alum such as Potassium Alum or potash.

This is the remedy that had been sought, for centuries without success.
We are lucky to have it here as i unveil the direction for usage.

How to get ALUM

Alum is sold in all the food markets , just visit food market and ask of Alum, they will give it to you.

After your dinner, brush your teeth with our normal tooth paste, take a piece of ALUM.

put it directly to the affected tooth, close your mouth and not swallow your spit (not that it is dangerous to the health), the spit in your mouth is what is going to react with ALUM.

After about 10-15minutes, remove the first spit and repeat same again, then your can go to bed.

Secondly, before breakfast put a small quantity of the alum at the affected part of the teeth, hold it tight and gaggle the saliva for 10- 15 minutes before spitting it out, after your breakfast, repeat the remedy as instructed, you must definitely notice that the pain had subsided.

Do not relent as the pain has gone down, repeat the process for 5days, then watch and see the miracles unfolding.

After reading this, share to some of your contacts , you know that everybody will not be having the opportunity to get the information.

Many people are dying in pain caused by tooth ache.

The Ashanti woman who ended up as freedom fighter and hero in Jamaica.

The Ashanti woman who ended up as freedom fighter and hero in Jamaica.

This statue is located in Emancipation Park, New Kingston, Jamaica🇯🇲.

Queen Nanny (Nana) of the Maroons.

She was a former slave stolen from the Ashanti Tribe brought to Jamaica during the late 1700s. Maroons were escaped slaves who formed their own independent settlements. Her and her 4 Brothers who were Maroon leaders escaped their plantation and hide in the mountains and jungles in Jamaica.

They created a village in the Blue Mountains where they took slaves after they raided numerous plantations.

Nanny is credited to freeing over 1,000 slaves. Maroon in Latin means wolf. The Spanish called these free slaves “Maroons,” a word derived from “Cimarron,” which means “fierce”

“Anywhere Asante goes, it will shine” – Komfo Anokye.

Anywhere we step our feet at, our presence must be felt by all. We were born freedom fighters. The kind of spirit our ancestors placed in us, only the “Sikadwa Kofi” can tell. It is a resilient spirit.

Black Power, Salute the Queen.

Yennenga,Dagomba warrior Princess whose son founded Mossi Kingdom in west Africa

Princess Yennenga is seen as the mother of the Mossi culture, and many statues and memorial marks of her can be seen in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso. Parallels can be drawn between Princess Yennenga and heroines in various other cultures, for example Jean D’Arc and Athena.

Many versions exist of the 14th century legend of Yennenga. This is one of them.

King Nedegea of West Africa reigned over a wealthy kingdom. He had a young and lovely daughter, too. A cherished princess. She was permitted to lead her own troops because she was courageous and exceptionally skillful with spear and bow, as well as a better rider than both her brothers and many of the king’s warriors. She was already helping her dad battle the enemy who was attempting to steal the king’s riches at the age of 14.

Since the abilities of Yennenga were so great and therefore of the utmost importance to the kingdom, her father would not allow her to marry.

She planted a field to make it clear to her father that she was not able to abstain from family life, although she did not harvest it, but let it go to waste instead. She explained that she was feeling this way.

Instead of softening the attempts of Yennenga to justify her feelings, her father grew furious and decided to lock her up.

Yennenga had several friends among her father’s guards, as she was a beloved princess. One of her father’s horsemen helped her flee, dressed up as a man, on horseback. They rode through the night together, but were attacked by the enemy. Her helper had to pay with his life.

Yennenga rode on northwards alone.
One night, when she and her horse were tired, they saw a house after crossing a turbulent river. Riale, the hunter of elephants, lived in that home. He saw through Yennenga’s veil immediately and fell in love.

The couple had a son called Ouedrago, meaning stallion, because it was Yennenga’s horse that brought her to Riale and to love. In Burkina Faso, which is located where the Mossi kingdom is still strong in West Africa, Ouedraogo is a popular surname to date.

Yennenga symbolizes much that is of great importance even today, in West Africa as well as in the rest of the world.

Yennenga was young, beautiful and loved by her people and her father. She had both beauty and skill.

Yennenga symbolizes much that is of great significance even today, in West Africa as well as in the rest of the world. Yennenga was young, she was beautiful being loved by her people and her father. She had beauty along with skill.

Yennenga embraced the roles of gender and she was allowed to develop her talents. She was of great importance to the security and development of her country.

Yennenga was brave and had the strength of a powerful will. In her life decisions, she pursued dialogue, behaved decisively, and was motivated.

Things you shouldn’t tell anyone

In a relationship, whether married or still in courtship, there
are things you should not tell another person. You never
know who will be the Judas over your relationship. There are
high secrets you have to keep only to yourself.

1. Don’t tell anybody how weak your partner is. Someone
may use it against you/them.

2. Don’t tell people how much you quarrel with your partner,
make them see it as perfect from outside while you settle
issues from inside.

3. Don’t tell even a best friend how much you get as pocket
allowance from your husband, if they ask tell them that he’s
giving more than you expected.

4. Men don’t tell your friends how good your wife is in bed,
that’s a secret between you and your wife.

5. Don’t ever tell your mother the way he or she is acting in
the marriage, you won’t like the outcome if she’s a jealous
Mother in law.

6. Ladies, a friend may be eyeing your hubby and that’s why
you shouldn’t tell them what moves him most.

7. Even your pastor is not worthy to know how many times
you quarrel with your husband, most of them will use it as
sermon. Just talk to God alone.

8. Don’t tell the children that their father/mother is a bad
person. It can make them hate them.

9. Don’t tell anybody your partner’s past mistakes, it is too
risky for your marriage.

10. Don’t tell anyone to try seducing your partner to prove
their loyalty. They may end up winning their love..

Sam George blasts NDC members accusing their MPs of being sell-outs

“See I had decided to keep quiet and not speak but the truth is I cannot hold it in anymore.

It is annoying and irritating seeing the disparaging and demeaning commentary being propagated by members of the NDC against the Parliamentary Caucus of the Party reference the upcoming vetting process. The suggestion that we are a group of sell-outs who have no spine is insulting.

All 137 of us in Parliament stood up to the excessive abuse of State Power by the Akufo-Addo regime and I the face of intimidation and threats won our Parliamentary seats for the Party. On the night of the 6th and 7th January, we again with unity of purpose put our lives at risk and successfully elected an NDC Speaker of Parliament. What more should the NDC MPs do before you our own recognise our sacrifice?

Whatever inducement you think is being offered did not exist when we put Party first to elect a Speaker? Do you know the battles many members are having to fight today as a consequence of our actions on the night of the 7th January?

What is most annoying is those who are making all the threats and casting insinuation have failed to provide a half page memorandum on why any of the people they are talking about should be disqualified. Disqualification is not based on emotional outbursts or your whims and caprices. It is based on HARD FACTS backed by EVIDENCE! And don’t tell me the evidence is there. You too you are a person, package it and send it to us as a Memorandum.

I believe in the sense of caramaderie in the NDC Caucus. I believe in the integrity of our Members on the Appointments Committee. I trust our Leadership. We would act in the ultimate best interest of Party and Country. This involves putting tact, strategy and wisdom over emotions. If you.have a problem with that, kindly pick forms the next time nominations are opened and contest to become an MP and come and do the blow man things you are posting about.

Learn to love your own, dear NDC Member!🦁 -Sam George
